General Jewellery Care

Your jewellery is precious and delicate and if treated as such, your pieces have the potential to last a lifetime. All jewellery is made different and their ability to last a lifetime is dependent on numerous factors such as materials and care.Β Care is a vital component when it comes to keeping your jewellery in optimal condition and different pieces may require more extensive care than others.

Here are three general tips that are essential to keep your pieces in optimal condition and prolong their lifespan:

1. Avoid Moisture, Chemicals, Oils, and Beauty Products

Whilst some jewellery (such as gold filled or stainless-steelΒ pieces) can withstand exposure to water and perfumes this doesn't mean it doesn't affect your product! Keep jewellery away from excess steam, humidity, moisture, and chemicals such as chlorine. Attempt to apply perfume and lotions prior to putting your jewellery on to avoid contact.

2. Keep Jewellery stored when not in use

Jewellery is best kept in safe,Β dry places which avoid exposure to everydayΒ elements.Β The original packaging youΒ receive is perfect for storing your pieces!Β A simple jewelleryΒ pouch or box will also suffice.Β We also recommend not sleeping in your pieces but instead storing them away safely.

3.Β Regularly Clean your Jewellery

Each piece of jewellery is different, and theΒ cleaningΒ procedure will depend on the metals they are made of (see below).

Some general cleaning tips include:

  • Do not use any harshΒ chemicals, substances, or tools (such as a hard bristle brush) to clean your products.Β
  • Use a lint free cloth to gently polish your jewellery and remove dust and dirt particles.
  • AvoidΒ directlyΒ touching any crystals, pearls, or gems as these are very delicate and can become dislodged.

    Materials & Care

It's vital to understand that most forms of metal are susceptible to natural wear, fading and oxidisation over time. However, providing the correct care for your pieces can limit this and prolong their lifespan.Β Product materials are listed on each individual product page throughout the website. Ensure you read the materials before purchasing.

    Gold Plated:

It is critical that gold plated pieces avoid any contact with water, chemicals, lotions, perfumes and all other chemical or water-based substances as this will cause the jewellery to oxidise and tarnish.Β We suggest removing gold plated pieces prior to showering, exercising, washing your hands, swimming or before part taking in any activity that involves moisture.Β

Cleaning your gold-plated pieces regularly after wear will prolong their lifespan and reduce the appearance of tarnishing. We recommend gently polishing your pieces with the cloth provided in your order.Β When you are not wearing your pieces, store them in their original packaging or in a safe, dry place, ensuring your piece is protected from exposure to everyday elements such as harsh sunlight.

    Gold Filled:

Whilst this material is of a high quality and one of the best alternatives to solid gold it is still vital to correctly care for them. Gold filled pieces have a higher tolerance to water exposure in comparison to gold plated pieces, however, this doesn't mean it won’t affect your jewellery. Constant water and chemical exposure can lead to fading, tarnishing and oxidisation over time.Β

We recommend avoiding contact with all beauty products such as perfumes, oils, and lotions, as well as any harsh chemicals.Β To clean these pieces, we recommend using the soft cloth provided in your order.

    Stainless Steel:

Our stainless-steel jewellery and findings are tarnish resistant and hypoallergenic.Β However alike all other metals, with excessive wear, they can becomeΒ scratched and dull. To keep your jewellery in optimal condition, we recommendΒ regular cleaning using a damp cloth and gentle circular motions instead of buffing.Β

WeΒ recommend removing your stainless-steel jewellery prior to swimming in chlorinated pools as this can damage the surface of your piece andΒ dull its appearance. Β  Β

PEURLA the label is not responsible for the care and maintain of your pieces. Any damage occurring from natural wear and negligence to correctly care for your jewellery will not be eligible for refunds, exchanges, or replacements.Β
